Eid ul-Fitr is celebrated by Muslims worldwide as it marks the end of the month-long dawn-to-sunset fasting of Ramadan.

This year fasting begins on April 2. Eid-ul-Fitr (Feast of Breaking Fast) ends on May 2, 2022.

Ramadan is a holy month of fasting, introspection, spiritual cleansing, prayer, and charity for Muslims.
Fasting is one of the five pillars of Islam, which includes zakat (charity), prayers, testament of faith, and Hajj (pilgrimage).

Four reasons why Muslims fast:

  • It was commanded by God. Primary purpose is to gain greater God-consciousness.
  • To increase one’s spirituality and strengthen one’s moral character.
  • To appreciate food and drink and develop empathy with those less fortunate than oneself.
  • To practice self-control.

While most people associate Ramadan with fasting, it is equally about the importance of giving back in your community. Giving always brings out the best in people, and Ramadan is a welcomed reminder to remember those less fortunate and continue to give a helping hand to those in need throughout the year.

In partnership with Youth4Unity we also invite you to a Month of Giving and Reflection. Please support Bucks Housing Group and the Islamic Cultural Center.

Mercer Museum & Fonthill Castle has a purpose that aligns with our desire to present a meaningful celebration, “It is the mission of the Bucks County Historical Society to educate and engage its many audiences in appreciating the past and help people find stories and meanings relevant to their lives- both today and in the future.” We are grateful to The Mercer Museum for hosting us this year.
